New to Post Frame in Canada: Perma-Column Concrete Posts Exclusive to Integrity Post Structures. New Option for Post Frame Buildings
(CALGARY) New to Canada and exclusive to Integrity Post Structures, the Perma-Column will bring in a new era to post frame construction. Perma-Columns are precast concrete columns that allow for a concrete foundation.
“We are excited to offer the Canadian market this bold new product,” says Al Williams, co-owner of Integrity Post Structures. “This column which has been tested thoroughly and used for years in the U.S., will take post frame construction to a new level of longevity in Canada.”
The Perma-Column is the first product to combine the economy of post frame construction with the durability of a concrete foundation. Perma-Columns have been extensively tested by both Wisconsin and Purdue University. In comparative strength tests, Perma-Columns have proven to outperform the industry standard of wood columns.
Perma-Columns use the latest in self-compacting concrete precasting technology to provide three times the strength of standard concrete. Microfibers add shock resistance and durability. Microsilicia enhances flexural/compressive strength and erosion resistance. A corrosion inhibitor protects the rebar reinforcement from rusting, and a final admixture is added to give freeze/thaw protection.
“The Perma-Column is the most important advance in the post frame industry in years,” says Irvin Goodon, known as the Canadian pioneer of post frame. “Having been in the industry for close to 50 years, I believe this technology will significantly extend the life of post frame buildings here in Canada–especially considering the weather extremes of our climate.”
